Final reflection 5/19/2008

Did you meet your goals?
Well i didnt have any goals in my intership to accomplish but any way there are always goals in life depending in what you do and that happened to me i didnt know anything about my intership but i learned a lot things that i know will help at least to get a job in NYU Medical center.

What are the most important things you’ve learned?
The most important things i learned was how to be more serious about your job and also how to get use to things that you dont want to do but you have to do it because will help you later on, like this intership another important thing i learned was how to be more respectful and helpful to customers that needs help and also almost everything about verification site.

In what ways have your grown?
Some way i have grown are, being more responsible and also how to care about your job and to be more helpful and pacific with people.

What were the highlights of your internship experience?
Some of my experiences in my intership were work with people that you dont even know and also get to a place where evverybody is looking at like you are gonna steal something is very hard.

If you can, describe a memorable moment or experience.
Well a memorable day was the first day of work it was very hard i was ashamed and very nervous is something that i will never forget.

What challenges did you overcome?
Some of the challenges i overcame was how to do my assingments because sometimes they were vey hard and i was scared because i didnt want to make mistakes but after i was very sure about what i was doing and i was doing a good job.

What advice would you give a new intern at this site?
Well a good advice would that they need to take it seriously and be responsible working hard like if they wre getting money for it.

What will you miss about your internship?
Somethig i will miss about my intership is myy mentor and also the way i used to work because i felt like i was like an important person already and also my cowworkers.

Nyack college for 4 years , and yes she wants to go back to school this fall for nursing.

My mentor studied theology and intercultural studies and got Bachelors degree.

5. Why did you choose that field?
She couldnt find many jobs oppotunities relating to intercultural studies most of her jobs expenence is in administration so she knew she would be able to learn quickly and do this jjob well.

7. Why did you choose this job?
she had a good supervisor and it was a good opportunity to gain work experience and pay for loans.

8. How long have you worked here?
She has been working for 8 months.

9. What is your job title?
Her job title is project assistant.

10. What do your duties include? Or What kinds of work does your job involve?
Her main duty is to verify employment information to outside companies othher responsiblities include inputting data into th system trackers, filing managing paper work.

11. What are some of the challenges you have faced working here?
Any job that involves customer service usually brings fustration.

12. What is the best part of your job?
She likes her cowworkers.

She says no filing but everything else is ok.

There is a lot of rooms for growth and promotion but unfotunately i will only be with NYU the end of the summer.

Today is tuesday like usual another day in my intership, today i was working in the verification department i didnt do actually nothing because we were supposed to be working in other department so we didnt go because there weren ready and my mentor didnt have anything for us but we tried to do something me and greg started filing like crazy some files, but it was cool because we spent some tim talikng with my mentor

Today is monday it was a very bored day in my intership i was working by myself because greg was in vacation but, is ok i wasworking with immigratin the whole day i was busy putting information into the trackers in the computer which is very easy i just have to check if everything is by the order and write who checked the file it is very easy but very boring today the day went fast cause that kept me busy thanks god, after a wonderful vacation i went back to my intership not fun at all.

Today is wednesday one of the days that i most love because is the last of the internship during the week because i dont work in thursdays, today i want the hospital to delivey some files and also to get some from there too it was vey cool because i was outside almost by one hour which is not bad for me,then i came back to my intership and there was nothing to do just a couple files to put in the trackers which was very easy to do and then the time was gone and i had to go home.;

Today is tuesday another day in my internship, today i was working with my original mentor i really didnt do a lot things i was just saving and copying documents in the cpp tracker but there were a lot names so i took almost the whole day to finish it, the day went so fast because those files kept me so busy but it was fun too because i was jocking with+ greg and sometimes with my mentor till time got over me and i had to leave to come bACK next day that was all i did today in my internship.

Well today is monday as usual another day for my intership, today i was very busy working with another part of the NYU Medical center called immigration, I was learning how to check some immigrants file in the computer and making comments in the I-9 files it was a very fun day i was listening to music and also doing my job like i said i learned another experience in my intership and it was vey important for me because doing this job you can see what is wrong in the file so you can correct it.

Well i never thought i would be working in a office with a lot important things, files and important information about a lot different people is just amazing the way we work because you get to know a lot of experiences. There are a lot of different things in my intership compare with the enviorement of the school, such as in the school there are too many students from diffent nationalities and in the intership everybody is always quiet nobody is playing around like in the school in the intership also there are less people than the school. There are too many diffetent skills that i already learned in my intership like how to talk to people in properly way and also how to work in a businnes's office and another important thing ive learned is how to work in team and how to be more responsible when you really have a job, there are also some similar things in the school and in the intership such as in both places you have to work hard, be respectful, and also be really responsible in the way of working and also getting on time.Some challenges that ive faced in my intership are like how to do my work properly depends and what they assingment me and also doing the same job that my mentor and almost everyone do in there is just very nice because you are having the same experiences that they have in their all period of work, but ive overcame them working hard and also paying attention to everything they tell me to do thats how ive been learning all my assingments, well i have big goal to acomplish in my intership and this goal is to work there in the future because i thing is a good job and also very important. Well something i learned about New York city in that is a city of big business and a lot such hard workers .

Today is tuesday. It was a busy day LOL i got to my intership there was really nothing to do with my mentor but i still loged some files into the computer and then i went to other part of my company to work there (Immigration) It was so boring i was just doing copies like crazy it was very boring but the time went so fast because i was working all the time

Well during the secod week of my intership i was just still learning about the office how to work and how to be prepared to do my intership, then i was just working by filong answering calls and helping the employees that wants letters and wants to know about their resumen. This wee was very different from the first one because in the first week i didnt feel comfortable, i didnt know nothing that i had to do i was always asking for help and in the fisrt week i was fixing files and in the second week i was doing other things such as answering calls and making letters and i didnt ask for nothing because i was already like a master doing my job LOL.Something i dont like about my intership is that you have to file a lot of papers and is very boring.

WOW today monday, the worse monday in my intership!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today i worked in another part of NYU Medical center which was the section of immigration it was just crazy they started as with more than 100 files to put them away, i was so tired because the trackers were so low and had to be going uo and down that killed my back man it was just horrible. The reason they put me there was to learn more experiences but seriously i dont see the importance of putting files away. After I finished i had to organize more files till the clock saved my life and gave the time to go home.

Today is wednesday, it was a cool day i got to my intership at 12 30 there was really nothing to do but then my mentor found something for me and i start making letters and answering phone calls then i went to the NYU hospital to delivery some files and also picking up files it was very cool i took my time outside and then went back to my intership where i was doing letters again and also putting new hire to the tracker.

well today was very hard day at my intership, i was very busy with a lot of filing and putting new hires to the system there were so many files since me and greg arrived we started working like crazy our mentor gave us a whole bunch of files me and greg looked at each other and my mentor just laugh, it was a hard day but anyway it went too fast because we were busy the whole time.

Something that i've done in my intership is filing and making letters for employees. I was also making copies and answering calls from people that needed some informations about employees of NYU. Something that im also doing in my intership is logging in file that has been pulled out from other employees when they need to see their information im also making lables for new hires in the NYU well i know this is not a lot but this is all ive been doing.

) : Well my intership is human resources NYU medical center, where we make letters for employees save records for hires and also saving all the files from the people that works in the company, it is located in one park avenue in manhttan and 33 st. My mentor is very cool she is very young very hard worker and vey friendly she teachs patiently so you can understand and never get mad she is always happy, and she is the person that always sign my time sheet. something that happened the first day in my intership was that i had to fix all the files so i was so tired and asking to myself if i would be doing this everyday but my thoughts werent because i dont do anything lke anymore for now. So far i have done almost everything in my intership i learned all my assingments without no problems. I leave my school at 11 40 and i get to my intership to 12 30 or 12 40 it takes me like 40 minutes to get there, the days that i work are monday through wednesday from 1 to 5 oclock, my trip is not long going back home because i take the four train which is express and i get home like in 35 minutes.
